Bringing biodiesel to market through education, local production and distribution, NewDiesel can provide the new fuel for your diesel engine to make our community a better place to live.
Biodiesel is an alternative to petroleum diesel for fuel in any diesel engine. Biodiesel can be used undiluted as B100 (100% biodiesel) or blended with petroleum diesel (B20 and B5 are popular blends using 20% and 5% biodiesel respectively). Biodiesel is less polluting than petroleum diesel:
- Reductions in carbon monoxide emissions of 10 percent (B-20) and 50 percent (B-100).
- Reductions in particulate emissions of 15 percent (B-20) and 70 percent (B-100).
- Reductions in total hydrocarbon emissions of 10 percent (B-20) and 40 percent (B-100).
- Reductions in sulfate emissions of 20 percent (B-20) and 100 percent (B-100).
- Slight increase in nitrogen oxide emissions of two percent (B-20) and nine percent (B-100).
Biodiesel also offers advantages over petroleum diesel:
- Improved lubrication of engine
- Renewable and Sustainable fuel (obtained from plant seeds - soybean, canola, etc.)
- Supports domestic agriculture and jobs
- Reduces dependence on foriegn sources of oil (OPEC)
